Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to common questions about vehicle recovery, A to B transport, jump starts, and mobile tyre assistance. If you need urgent help, call or WhatsApp and we’ll confirm availability and an ETA estimate.
Are you available 24/7?
Yes. Vertex Recovery Services is available 24/7 for vehicle recovery and roadside assistance. If you need urgent help, call or WhatsApp and we’ll confirm availability and an ETA estimate.
How quickly can you get to me?
Arrival times depend on your location, traffic, weather, and current call-outs. Once we have your details, we’ll give the most accurate ETA we can and keep you updated.
What information do you need when I call?
To dispatch the right help quickly, please share:
Your exact location (postcode + nearby landmark if possible)
Vehicle make/model (and if it’s automatic/manual if relevant)
What’s happened (breakdown, flat battery, puncture, won’t start, etc.)
Whether you need recovery or A to B transport (and your destination if applicable)
A contact number we can reach you on
Do you cover my area?
We offer nationwide coverage across the UK. Message us with your postcode/location and we’ll confirm availability.
Can you help if I’m not sure what’s wrong?
Yes. Tell us what you’re seeing (warning lights, noises, whether the vehicle starts, any smoke/leaks) and where you are. If we can safely get you going, we will — otherwise we’ll arrange recovery or transport to a destination of your choice.
Can you jump start any vehicle?
In most cases, yes. We can assist with many cars and light vehicles with a flat battery. If your vehicle has special requirements (e.g., sensitive electronics or access is difficult), tell us and we’ll advise the best approach.
What if the battery is completely dead?
We’ll still try to get you started safely. If the battery won’t take a charge or there’s another underlying issue (alternator, starter motor, immobiliser, etc.), we can help arrange recovery to a garage or another destination.
What can you transport?
We provide A to B vehicle transport for many common vehicle types. Typical jobs include:
Moving a vehicle to a garage or home
Transport for a vehicle that’s non-starting or unroadworthy
Pre-booked transport (planned moves) and urgent transport when needed
Can I ride along with my vehicle?
This depends on the job and available capacity. Ask when you book and we’ll confirm what’s possible for your transport.
What types of breakdowns do you recover?
We can recover vehicles that have broken down, won’t start, have warning lights, have mechanical/electrical faults, or can’t be driven safely. If you’re unsure, explain the issue and we’ll advise.
Can you recover from a motorway?
Motorway recoveries can have extra restrictions for safety and compliance. Tell us exactly where you are and we’ll advise the safest next steps (including whether official motorway recovery rules apply in your situation).
Do you replace tyres roadside?
We can help with tyre issues where possible at your location. Availability depends on your tyre size/type and what’s safe to do roadside. Message us with your location and (if you know it) your tyre size, and we’ll confirm what we can do.
Can you help with a puncture?
Yes — in many cases we can assist with punctures and flat tyres. If the tyre is unsafe to repair or conditions aren’t suitable, we can help arrange recovery or transport instead.
How do you price a call-out?
Pricing depends on the job details, for example:
Distance to your location and (if needed) to your destination
Time of day / urgency
Vehicle type/condition and access (tight spaces, low clearance, locked steering, etc.)
Road and weather conditions
Do you provide quotes before dispatch?
Yes — once we confirm your location, vehicle details, and what you need, we’ll provide a quote/estimate before we proceed where possible.
What affects the price of a towing or recovery job?
Pricing works differently for every job, but in practice the main factors are:
Distance to reach you and (if needed) distance to your destination
Time of day and urgency (night call-outs can differ from pre-booked jobs)
Vehicle condition (non-runner, locked steering, flat tyre, access issues)
Access (tight spaces, underground car parks, narrow streets)
If you send us your postcode and destination postcode, we can usually give a clear estimate quickly.
Do you take one-off breakdown recovery jobs?
Yes — if you don't have cover and need help now, that's fine. Whether it's a one-off job or an urgent, same-day recovery, just message us and we'll confirm availability and a quote.
Do I need breakdown cover to use you?
No. You can use us whether or not you have cover. Breakdown cover is an insurance product you buy in advance; we're a pay-as-you-go recovery and towing service you can call on the spot. If you need practical help today, just message us and we'll advise the fastest option.
Don't worry about getting the terminology exactly right — however you describe it, just tell us where you are and what's happened, and we'll guide you to the right service.
